p53 mRNA as a regulatory molecule

We study secondary structures in TP53 mRNA that control translation, co-translational events and the production of functionally distinct p53 proteins.

TP53 mRNA is not a passive template. Its secondary structure can act as a regulatory platform that coordinates translation with MDM2 interactions and stress-dependent p53 synthesis.

The group examines riboswitch-like features, synonymous variants and co-translational mechanisms that change phosphorylation, stability and isoform production without altering the canonical amino-acid sequence.
